Business organizations are not only dependent on elements within the company.

事業組織は、会社の内部の要素にのみ、依存しているのではない。

No business organization is an island.

いかなる事業組織も、島のように孤立したものではない。

Each depends on a number of external resources and outside organizations.

それぞれが、多くの外的な資源と外部の組織に、依存している。

These external resources are often beyond its immediate control.

これらの外的な資源には、多くの場合、組織の直接的なコントロールが及ばない。

Examples are electricity, water, telecommunications and so on.

Although your organization cannot control the delivery of these services and therefore cannot prevent interruptions, it is your organiztion alone that can and will have to manage the impact on your business operations should these external dependencies fail.
