 My persistent requests finally brought results.

 私の粘り強い要求が、ついに、成果をもたらした。

I was put in command of the third squadron---the 'Mickey Mouse' squadron, so called after its emblem.

私は、第三飛行中隊---そのエンブレムに因んで、’ミッキー・マウス’ 飛行中隊と呼ばれていた---の指揮を任された。

The remaining two squadrons of the fighter wing were under the command of Lieutenants Luetzow and Schlichting, whose emblems were respectively a marabou and a top-hat.

戦闘機航空団に属する、残りの二つの飛行中隊は、リュッツォウ少尉とシュリヒティング少尉の指揮下にあって、/ それらのエンブレムは、それぞれ、ハゲコウとシルクハットだった。　

According to the situation, the fighters were either used for aerial combat or for ground-strafing, as had been the custom in the First World War.
