I recently took advantage of Harvard's spring break to visit friends in Colorado and do some work and skiing there.

The Rocky Mountains are an extraordinary place to sit and think, with the nights as dazzlingly inspirational as the days. 

ロッキー山脈は驚嘆すべき場所である  /  腰を下ろして考えるには　/  夜が、昼と同じくらいに、眩いほどの発想をもたらしてくれて。

On clear dry nights, the sky is illuminated by brilliant dots of light sporadically punctuated by "shooting stars"---those tiny ancient meteoroids that disintegrate overhead.

良く晴れて（視界をぼやかす）湿気の無い夜に、空は明るくされている  /  輝く光の点によって  /  散発的に”流れ星” によって変化を与えられている---それらのごく小さな遥かな昔のメテオロイド  /  頭上でバラバラになる。  

One night a friend and I stood outside the house where I was staying, mesmerized by the breathtaking expanse of luminous objects ranged densely across the sky.

ある夜、友人と私は、家の外に立っていた  /  そこに私が滞在していた  /  空一面にびっしりとちりばめられていた明るい天体の、息を吞むような広がりに魅了されて。

I had already spotted a couple of meteors before my friend and I both noticed a big one that lasted a few seconds.
